Yve Blake

Yve Blake is a Writer, Composer, Musical Comedian, and a ruthless eavesdropper.

After winning Playwrighting Australia’s ‘Kicking Down the Door’ award in her final year of high school, Yve made her first solo show at 18, which toured Australia & the UK. From 2012-2015 Yve lived in London, where she worked with Punchdrunk, completed the Royal Court Writers’ Programme and presented work at the National Theatre, The Barbican, Bush Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Yve is best known for writing songs with strangers on the internet. At 20 she created a website which asked strangers to send her darkest secrets & then wrote a collection of songs inspired by these confessions.

These songs became her second solo show ‘THEN’ – which Kickstarted her career as a musical comedian when it returned to London by demand 5 times in a year and sold out the Soho Theatre. As a comedian she went onto make 2 more award nominated solo shows and a bunch of music videos.

In 2016 Yve was Awarded the inaugural ATYP Rebel Wilson Theatremaker Scholarship to write and compose her dream project: A Bloodthirsty Musical about Teenage Fangirls who are prepared to kill for love. It’s based on hundreds of interviews, It’s got a girls choir, and it’s also got knives.

After a hugely successful showcase in late 2016, that musical is now in development with a major company & will premiere in early 2019.

In the meantime, Yve is currently attached as a writer to a handful of equally bananas projects for stage and screen (clue: singing manta rays). In 2017 Yve is one of 14 artists selected for the inaugural Belvoir Artists’ Workshop.
