The voyage begins with lead single ‘Road To Recovery’. A dizzying array of stomping disco beats, spiralling synths and effervescent guitars, the song is a sonic mission through laser-soaked corridors and rainbow-lit roller derbies. It’s the perfect intro to Midnight Juggernauts’ debut album, a trekking montage that occupies the dark spaces between M83, Georgio Moroder, Air, ELO and John Carpenter – shooting stars, black holes, lush soundscapes, thumping discobeats, glimpses of the edge of the universe. With their first two EPs Raised By Wolves and Secrets of the Universe, Melbournians Vincent (vocals/keys) and Andy (guitars/vocals) sent ripples across the world with airplay on BBC1 and MTV2 UK/Europe, and airplay back home on Triple J. Secrets of the Universe also sold out all four of its pressings and spent many weeks at number one on the AIR Independent Charts. Additionally the Juggernauts have been moving audiences with their slamming live shows: touring Europe in late 2006, hitting the festival circuit with Parklife, Homebake, Laneway and Future Music, performing alongside MSTRKRFT, Death From Above 1979, and Trans Am – and playing their own sell-out shows across the country. They’ve also remixed tracks for !!! (Chk Chk Chk), KIM, The Presets, Dragonette (to be released on Kitsune Maison 4), Electric Six and Damn Arms, while Juggernauts’ tracks have been remixed by Para One, Cut Copy and Switch. Now with new drummer Daniel Stricker (formerly of The Valentinos), Midnight Juggernauts are taking to the road for a national tour in April, playing their biggest headliners yet. Previewing tracks off their upcoming debut album, Midnight Juggernauts are going to take you on a journey – soundtracks to triumph, glittering snow, dawn filtering through. BOOM – V2.0 is here.
